Pilgrimage, Prayer Service, Meal & Address

The relics of St. Marcellus of Tangiers are housed in the main altar at Sacred Heart Basilica and each year on his feast day pilgrims visit those relics to pray and meditate on the meaning of his martyrdom 1,700 years ago.

“I serve Jesus Christ the eternal King…It is not right for a Christian, who serves the Lord Christ, to serve in the armies of the world.”- St. Marcellus

5:45pm: Pilgrimage begins at Kelly Park (750 Howard St., South Bend) and processes to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Notre Dame

6:30 pm: Prayer Service at the Lady Chapel in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Notre Dame (featuring the Goshen College Women’s World Music Choir)

7 pm: Middle Eastern Meal and Keynote Address by Zoughbi Zoughbi, Founder and Director of Wi’am – Palestinian Conflict Resolution & Transformation Center (Bethlehem), with response by Prof. Atalia Omer of the Kroc Institute for Peace Studies, in Remick Commons (located in Sandner Hall just North of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart) *Free-will Offering to be collected for the meal and for Wi’am
